The Humor-Blogs.com Blog
The Frogster here. This week I'm taking a look at Bee's Musings, a blog which I had not hitherto visited. | Category | Score | Points | | Content | 4.67 | 33/70 | | Writing | 5.4 | 3/5 | Web Design | 6.07 | 3/5 | | Intangibles | 5.27 | 3/5 | Read Regularly | 2 | 2/10 | | Frequency | 8 | 4/5 | | Total |
| 48 | Percentile Rank: 13We again start with the template. I suspect that template plays a bigger role in these reviews than indicated by the chart above, because it seems as though some of the reviewers get a template stuck in their craw and it becomes an albatross that squawks through even those parts of the review that are not (ideally) template related.
The page is pretty busy. While I like the template, the red text in the side-bar gets lost against the background.
The blog has original design (i think)..but the fonts are set at dark tones, and makes my eyes strained.
Biggest complaint? Uh... not a fan of black backgrounds. Oh sure, this one is rather artistic, making it significantly more interesting to peruse, but still... black?? SO not easy on the eyes.
On the downside, the layout reminded me of some emo 14 year old that wears his girlfriend's jeans. Thankfully I kept reading as I'm sure you wear your own. One reviewer disagreed vehemently, however: I do want her to design my blog. She's excellent on the graphics department and her tag line was fun too. As far as content goes, the reviewers had some positive things to say: I actually thought this blog was pretty darn good. Bee has a very fun sense of humor, and the ability to express it in ways that are charming and amusing.
It's a good read and amusing in its own right without being forced.
This is a personal journal, with really well-written and sometimes amusing life-as-she-sees it posts. And for that reason alone, I put her in my bookmarks for future reading.
Its obvious she's a dedicated and prolific author.
Because she doesn't take herself too seriously, she's funny-yet-not-overly-self-indulgent, which I find endearing. And some middle-of-the-road things to say: I wouldn't say this is a "funny blog." And by that I mean, that the objective of the blog is to amuse.
Another one of those hey-check-out-my-snarky-and-slightly-naughty-riffing-about-the-kooky-day-to-day-happenings-in-my-life blog. Not bad for its type.
The posts are humorous--not laugh out loud but kind of funny.
The writing was good, the content interesting enough and while it's witty and sometimes made me smile, it just wasn't all that laugh out loud funny or even, really, a Ha! funny.
Mostly a diary-type. Just not my kind of humor I suppose.
Two bits --the cartoon and the old lady made me laugh, other stuff felt tired and uninspired.
OK reading, not overly funny.
You said some interesting things that kept me reading but it didn't grab me enough to continuously come back.
The content is definitely a creed of Specific humor , that is, cannot be enjoyed by the whole population in all.....The cast of characters is a good idea, since there's no way you can know what the heck she's talking about without it. With it, and it's only slightly more bearable. Not really that "funny" for me. Bee's blog fit it the "Diary Blog That Is Sometimes Funny" category for most of our reviewers, as opposed to the "Humor Blog" category. But, as one reviewer stated, one reviewer's diary is another reviewer's humor. I would say that going for the official "Humor Blog" category would take some of the character away from this blog. So, not every post is not side-splittingly funny. It's still a good read. I think that lightening up the template a little will help. Remember, a lot of blog surfers spend most of their time looking at computers, and my guess is that "Plain Jane But Legible" will beat out "Clever But Optically Tiring" any day. Nicely done, Bee. Keep on blogging.
