The Humor-Blogs.com Blog
How to Kill People (dot) com ended up with a pretty good score, although it's clearly not for everyone. Most of the reviewers really liked it, but there were just enough people who absolutely hated it to bring the score back down to earth. The reviews on this blog were more polarized than those for any other blog so far, including the love-it-or-hate-it Pointless-Drivel. Several reviewers commented on the odd layout, while almost everyone loved Travis' take on The Family Circus. I should note that most of the reviewers based their scores and comments on the website as a whole; I don't think many of them even found the actual blog (to get to it you have to click on a link that says "My Blog," then wait for like 30 seconds, and then pull on a statue on the mantel or something). | Category | Score | Points | | Content | 5.79 | 41/70 | | Writing | 5.36 | 3/5 | | Web Design | 5 | 2/5 | | Intangibles | 4.93 | 2/5 | | Read Regularly | 4.29 | 4/10 | | Frequency | 6 | 3/5 | | Total |

Although I was disappointed to find ZERO tips on 'how to kill people', I found that I like this guys blog. I especially enjoyed his about me page and appreciated his honesty. I like a little sarcasm and negativity with a twist of comedy every now and then, so I may venture back over there from time to time. I do like the way it's archived for easy access to every post.
The layout sucks balls. Could the mast head be *ANY* bigger? THAT being said and out of the way, against my better judgment I clicked the F*ck Family Circus icon, and I am glad I did. Had I not, I would have missed out on what is perhaps one of the funniest variations on the HATE-ON for Family Circus I've seen. I then moved on to the bit about "Screech Needs to Die," and I couldn't agree more with the sentiment of wanting to "shank him in the genitals with a pen knife." Make mine rusty, and I think we're on the same sheet of music!
Travis is probably mentally ill, but very funny and creative. I like that everything is fair game in his mind, for an example read his Family Circus. I won't check the site regularly, but will definitely pop in occasionally. I laughed a lot. What does that say about me.
I couldn't add this to my blogroll fast enough. The Family Circus post was so funny I think I wet myself. I think I am in love.
This is one of my guilty pleasures on the web. Really, really inappropriate yet really, really funny. As a fellow comic book geek, I loved the 50 best/worst feature, and the Transformers review was hilarious. I think it would be just as funny with less "f*ck" and "sh*t", though.
Sorry, This blog annoyed me so much I can't even comment.
The site design bothers me. First you hit a main page, then you select articles from blurbs on the main page, or the blog. If you choose the blog, it redirects you verrrrry slowly. The articles are on a fine template. Black on white, but the blog is white on black. That makes it hard to read.
The writing is a little too wordy, I think. I don't really know what the problem was. The insulting, condescending style screamed that I should like it, but it just didn't make me laugh. I think it comes back to learning brevity a little better.
Overall, there was a number of very funny posts here. I was almost overwhelmed by the little "posty boxes", but quickly realized I was but a click away from good reading. My only complaint is that some of the posts were a bit too long.
It's not laugh-out-loud funny but it did make me smile a bit. I just couldn't get past all the profanity, though, which is where he tries to get most of his laughs. Much like Andrew Dice Clay, his humor is the vulgarity. Without it, it would just be another unfunny blog.
So Travis, it looks like you've picked up some new fans (and irritated a few people on top of it). You really need to do something about the layout, and you could probably reach a broader audience if you cut down on the profanity a little. On the other hand, most of the people who liked How to Kill People (dot) com REALLY liked it, so they're probably not going to let a weird layout and the f-word keep them away. I'd say try to tighten up the writing a little and watch the typos and who knows, you could be the next Maddox.
