Conservathink is the first overtly political blog to be reviewed by the humor-blogs.com reviewers and, well, it did okay. Not great, but ok. Damian's conservatism may have hurt him a little, but the reviewers seemed to be pretty fair-minded in their reviews. He got dinged for the "dreaded black background," as one reviewer called it. Other than that, the reviewers were mostly positive, if not exactly bowled over by this blog.

Some quotes from our reviewers:
Nothing like alienating almost half of your potential readers with your blog title. The blog name sounds like a Fox News blog rather than what it is, which is a mildly amusing conservative version of the Onion... The sidebar and the bottom section have so much crap in them I can't be bothered to look at any of it. Overall, some good talent wasted on a bad idea and poor execution.
At first I thought this was a pretty decent blog until in my research into his archives I figured out he's been writing political humor and satire since he was 16. And he's good at it. Jerk. Otherwise, it's a very easy blog to get around and often funny.
I think there's some real promise here. Now that the writer has graduated from high school, I'm sure his style will mature.... Not a fan of the black background.... I think this blogger has a very cute sense of humor -- perhaps a bit idealistic, but I give him a lot of credit for his attempts to express himself in a fashion that's entertaining and fun. Very nice effort.
Fairly well-written and well-reasoned for an unabashedly partisan site. Humor would probably appeal more to conservatives (duh).
I have to say that I didn't want to LIKE this blog. A conservative, a Republican, but a really, really funny one, one that I happily hang out with any day. I'll definitely be back. I won't always agree with what he's saying, but I'll definitely enjoy it. Bill O'Reilly and the other freaks at FOX could definitely learn from this guy....
Good blog. Smart and funny - not really, really funny, but a good read.
I cannot tell if I'm just overall disinterested in everything, or if this blog isn't that interesting.
This site has everything bad about it. The worst template ever, political humor that isn't funny, and inconsistent posting. And what's with using the semi-colon so much?
Do the people who use this color scheme even truly want us to read their blogs at all?
If nothing else, this review should be a lesson to those of you who are still using a dark template. The lesson being that people hate dark templates. Take note, future reviewees.
My personal opinion (and the impression that I get from some of the reviewers) is that this would be a more interesting blog if the reader didn't know right off the bat that the author is conservative. Besides immediately alienating a lot of people, the fact that the reader knows the point of view behind all the posts detracts from their humor potential -- and I'm speaking as one who is sympathetic to this blog's ideological bent. No surprise = no funny. And who knows, Damian. Some day you might want to express an opinion that doesn't toe the conservative line. Then what? Even George Will has an occasional liberal moment on a lazy Tuesday afternoon when no one else is around. And I hate to tell you this, but there's already somebody doing the "Conservative know-it-all bit," and his name is Rush Limbaugh. And Ann Coulter. And Sean Hannity. And Michael Medved. And Dr. Laura. And, well, about 80 million other people. Maybe you could be the conservative guy who's not 100% sure of himself all the time. Now THAT would be an original gimmick.
So, as an ex-pissed off conservative (and currently mellow conservative), here's my advice for you to take or discard as you see fit: Change the template, read some P.J. O'Rourke and Dave Barry (and some Voltaire and Edmund Burke while you're at it), keep your options open, and keep writing. I'd like to see where you're at in a year or ten.
