Diesel Hi, my name's Diesel. I run this site. I started it as a lark, because all of the other humor blog directories I found sucked. Anyway, my own humor blog is Mattress Police - Antisocial Commentary. It's listed over there on the upper right. That's what's known in the biz as a "conflict of interest." Deal with it.

Central Snark

Some of our reviewers may have noticed that I occasionally guest post at Central Snark (though I haven't contributed in over two weeks). One reviewer commented, "Like I'm going to give one of your blogs a bad review when there is a possibility of it coming back to haunt me." Ironically, however, I think my affiliation with Central Snark may have done it more harm than good. I and the other two long-time contributors to Central Snark recused ourselves from rating Central Snark -- and without violating the Humor-Blogs.com anonymity policy, I'll just say that the three of us are probably some of the more generous reviewers. That said, the numbers are what they are, and Central Snark fared pretty well overall.

The comments were all over the place:
"This is a quality blog all around, and it is pretty funny. Snark shares a problem with all multi-author blogs - inconsistency. Some stuff is killer, some is merely average."

"Clean, organized, simple template. Dislike the loooooong blogroll list. This blog annoyed me on two levels. One the posts were written in such a way that it felt like when you are stuck on the phone with your crazy, chatty Aunt Beatrice and she won't shut-up. And two, snark should be reserved for 14 year olds not adults. Very un-funny, immature and so-not-cool anymore."

"I don't get it."

"This is a fun blog that is made more fun by it being a group effort. My only thing is it is not snarky enough. I found it to be more charming than biting."

"I love this blog, it's one of my favorites, one of the ones I can't live without. Each of the contributing writers has their own original style which keeps this blog interesting -I always come away laughing."

"I am very impressed, although I think everyone who writes there is smarter than I am, which I find intimidating. I prefer the company of mouthbreathers so that I look good in comparison."

"The posts I read made me do my silent cubicle laugh numerous times. I'll definitely be back."

"I love this blog! I love their style of writing and the fact that I find myself belly laughing more often than not, has me going back for more. I would highly recommend this blog!"

"Normally I like wanton swearing and hot sex. Unfortunately, I found this blog to be a bit more of a ramble than a coherent source of humour. It's by no means terrible, but I could not personally recommend it to others."

"I liked the (mostly) clean look of this blog. Would have preferred more actual humor writing and less myspace videos."

"I like this better than most snarky blogs I've read, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's funny. If one of the writers hits on a subject you like, it can be interesting. Funny? Not so much."

"There is just not much new you can say about entertainment and show business. I did like the personal posts that were about the blogger's own life."

"I usually enjoy reading the Snark. I am not such a huge fan of YouTube blog posts, and unfortunately Central Snark uses that device frequently. The pictures at the top of the page frighten me. I would visit more often if they weren't so freaky."

"Sorry - I just didn't laugh and got fed up with more and more explanations of why there wasn't going to be a post this time. It felt like the posts were for people who wanted to know all about the authors as opposed to being made to laugh."

"This is not a bad blog - the humor is not my cup of tea, but the writing is decent, and the author tries to relate to the reader. I hate to be negative about any site, but this just didn't turn me on."
So, good job, Snarksters. I don't think the criticisms will come as any surprise to Snuppy & co. So let's try to cut down on the YouTube posts, maybe increase the snark quotient a little and do something about those scary pictures. Oh wait, was I supposed to do that?

wow...quite an honest bunch out there.
I guess the snark is not something you can grasp by looking there once or twice. It is also a work in progress where different contributors add their own thing.
I can´t remember it ever having mad eteh promise to be particular funny, snarky or otherwise mind inspiring.
It´s a fun place, where you drink your coffee and tell people why teh color green suits you that day!
Much like Central Perk in Friends, it is a blog where you hang amongst people that you know.

I am not a reviewer and that´s why I thought I give my two cents here!

maybe we're just an "acquired" taste, eh sweet Penguin? heh.

i'd say more right now, but i can't think of anything that might be considered A) relevant and/or B) hilarious. maybe i can find a video to help "illustrate" the point i don't want to make. ; )

funny thing: our overall number of hits has gone up over the past 2 weeks, so i'm guessing someone out there likes us. oh well, i meant to say it before, and i'll probably forget to say it again, but we don't give a rat's patootie WHO likes us, since we're much more concerned with who we like!

the gloves are off...just wait'll i put my "reviewer's" cap back on and get my, um, fingertips on this next batch of blogs.

May I recommend a switch to a Good Night Moon template?

Interesting the bit about multi author blogs - "some posts being killer, some merely average" as opposed to some of the blogs that I've sifted through where all the posts were all killer. That was helpful. Oh and the comment "snark should be reserved for 14 year olds" which went on to say "very unfunny, very immature and so-not-cool" - come on you can't fool me, nothing says 14 year old snarky kid like that phraseology.

I think Diesel brings up a good point - had the three of us not reviewed other blogs, their ratings would have suffered accordingly. The Snark may indeed be an acquired taste and I'm thinking that's not such a bad thing after all.

To all those who just don't see the humor, I think you must have misplaced your funny bone. But it's not your fault really, it's a kind of humor not every mind can appreciate. To the Snarkers, I think you guys are brilliant, each in your own way, and if you'll let me hang out with you guys over a virtual cup of coffee I'll be happy as pie. (Why is pie supposed to be happy if it gets eaten in the end? Well, one thing's for sure, I'm happy over at Central Snark)

I'm really not sure why everyone has their panties in a bunch here. The reviewers have pretty much been consistent with all the blogs they have reviewed.

My favorite humor blog ever got the same treatment. In fact, someone hated the sidebar on that blog (which I designed) but I didn't take it personally.

What is funny to some of us won't be funny to others.

I think the best value of this thing is the humor in the comments the reviewers make. Yeah, some of them are mean, but the really funny thing, to me, is that these reviews are often funnier than the blogs they are reviewing.

I'm listed as a blog on Humor-Blogs.Com and I am not going to put myself up for review anytime soon. I'll take my default 50 score thank-you! Besides, I think I'm freakin' hilarious but then again, I am quite sure I am the only one who does.

Polliwog: to know us is to know we don't wear panties. or we do, but they're those giant "granny" pants that couldn't get in a wad if you balled 'em up and stuck 'em inside a plastic bag!

that said, i am now off to read your blog, because i loveloveloved this snarky comment, and suspect you've got the attitude that attracts and/or afflicts the likes of us. ; )

i PROMISE, none of us were and/or are upset! we thought the reviews were fair and/or hilarious. (one can only hope those who follow will be as amused by our comments as we were by theirs!)
